What Landed Me Here

A job layoff, a 30-day journaling challenge, and creative exploration

“Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity. We only have this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand and melting like a snowflake.” Sir Francis Bacon

After 15+ years of being in marketing and sales in the Wine & Spirits industry, I was suddenly without a job. Part of me was upset and in shock (this career partly defined who I was for a long time) and the other part of me was joyous for the time off. I was burned out and had wanted an opportunity to reinvent myself. I just didn’t know how to do it. This was my kick-start!

After a few weeks of catching my breath, I was up for a challenge in the coming month. So, I decided that March would be my month to explore, and I would keep track of my thoughts, my experiences, my day-to-day happenings, my adventures – all in a journal. Nothing fancy – just your everyday college ruled spiral notebook. A 30-day journaling challenge!

This blog has been waiting to be written. I wasn’t sure where to really start. As I have been looking for a job (which is a lot more difficult in the world of ATS – hard to get your resume into the right hands when it gets blocked by the Applicant Tracking System) I have begun to learn new skills and the gateway to this blog was investigating WordPress to add to my resume.

Here we go on an adventure in many different directions! Just a sneak peek of my creative curiosity…30 Day Journaling Challenge, Radiant Renewal Retreat in Madison, Mind, Body & Spirit Celebration, tarot card reading, palm reading, antiquing in Illinois & Michigan, angel numbers, procuring materials to build custom tables, Reiki sessions, new recipes and cooking videos, painting dates with my Dad, garden/landscape design, joining a gym, etc.
